UV Exposure Expectations

Many of our customers need to use parts permanently outdoors or on items that are used outdoors enough to be concerned about UV exposure. The following pictures and descriptions are a standard BOPP and polyester laminate. This is primarily testing the ink for color fastness. There are materials that can be used to extend the life if outdoor life is a concern.

UV Exposure - Warning

The picture below shows approximately six weeks of outdoor exposure in sunny Southern California. (September / October). The item on the bottom was exposed continuously while the item on the top was protected in an office environment. Minimal change is observed showing the color fastness of the Mark Andy Digitally Printed labels. (Sample is BOPP with Gloss Polyester Over Laminate)

Lower Label exposed approx. 6 weeks

Left side covered - exposed approx 6 months

Left side covered approx. one year of direct sun.
