Pride

Becker’s was contacted by one of our vendors who introduced us to a company who had a face shield idea. Through some very quick collaboration, we are now producing 10,000+ shields a day which will be shipped to the Governor of California for distribution to many desperate workers who need protection.

I am very proud of our employees for embracing the challenge. Through their ideas, we are dedicating a line and expanding our working hours to make these shields. Below is a picture of the prototype:

Covid-19 Update - 3/20/2020

While the situation continues to change rapidly, Becker’s Fabrication has received multiple notices from customers who are in various sectors of the “Essential Services” listing from the US Government. The letters state that we must be at the ready to support them. To that end, Becker’s will maintain open throughout the coming weeks. We have given our employees the choice to work or stay at home and most have stated that they are willing to work as needed. We are fortunate to be in a healthy place in terms of orders and revenue. We are here for our customers today and tomorrow. We will continue to post as changes occur.
(See the previous posts for further information on materials and suppliers.)

Covid-19 Response

We have had many of our customer’s purchasing groups contact us to understand our risk for any supply issues that may be happening in the marketplace.

In terms of materials used to make our parts:

Our purchasing has been proactive in gathering information and our vendors have been very good at letting us know where we stand.  Because Becker’s purchases 90% of our material from converters, we are in very good shape.   Most of our vendors have contacted us to let us know that their inventories are fully stocked and do not foresee any shortages.    Most keep six months or more of their material in stock and their suppliers are all up and running.

In terms of components or other items that may be used in our assemblies:

We have already discussed a few delays with several customers and they are good with our time-line.  China is quickly getting back to full scale production and those supply lines will be back up quickly if they are not already.

Becker’s Work Schedule:

Becker’s Fabrication is planning to remain open with our normal work schedule.   We have implemented some changes internally to try to limit the number of people in the office and can further reduce both the number of people in the building at one time and still maintain our deliveries.

At this point, I do not foresee any delays to our production.   If changes occur, we will notify affected customers immediately.

Becker's Fabrication Acquires Comstar Inc.

We are very pleased to announce that on Tuesday, November 6, Becker's Fabrication completed its acquisition of Comstar, Inc.

Comstar has made a solid name for itself since 1988 as a domestic manufacturer of membrane switches with its focus on precision and reliability.

We believe that the combination of Comstar’s talent and equipment along with Becker’s wide product offerings and facilities will allow us to serve all of our customers as a stronger, more dynamic supplier.

We are excited to have new team members and a stronger position in the membrane switch market.

New Equipment

We are proud to announce that we have recently added over half of a million dollars worth of new equipment.   We have upgraded our hot stamping department with the latest NewFoil servo driven hot stamp press.   This press will run four times faster than our current presses and allow for more variations of variable data.

We have also acquired an Afinia DLP-2000 printing system that will allow us to digitally print short runs will full four color graphics and variable data.

Finally, we are thrilled with our new HP Indigo 5600 that was installed the week of January 11th, 2016.   This press is a major upgrade to our current S2000 presses that have served Becker's and our customers so well since we purchased them in 2003.

Becker's continues to be proud of our staff and are proud to be able to equip them with the latest tools available to custom commercial printing.
